Lacuna Coilis an Italian gothic metalband formed in Milan, Italy, in 1996. The name means an "empty spiral". They were formerly known as Sleep of Rightand Ethereal, counting various musical influences as doom metaland progressive metal. Lacuna Coil's music is inspired by gothic and romantic imagery, using melodic guitar lines, and alternating heavy and light vocals. According to themselves, the band is influenced by Paradise Lost, Tiamat, Septic Fleshand Type O Negative, among others.
